Washington, D.C. — On Saturday, the U.S. and Israel launched an attack on Iran and President Donald Trump is now calling for regime change in the country. House Democratic leadership have said they will force a vote next week on Reps. Ro Khanna’s (D-CA) and Thomas Massie’s (R-KY) bipartisan war powers resolution. Demand Progress is leading a campaign urging Americans to ask their representatives to support the resolution.

“In the middle of real diplomatic progress, Trump and Netanyahu chose to blow it up and drag us into another war of choice. This is reckless, it is illegal and it puts thousands of U.S. servicemembers and civilians in the region directly in harm’s way.
Trump has no authority to launch another war on his own. The Constitution is clear. The need for a War Powers Resolution is clear. Congress decides when this country goes to war, not the president.
Next week, every member of Congress will have to choose. Side with illegal, endless war or side with the American people and reject yet another regime change war in the Middle East. Like with Iraq, the choice they make will echo loudly for years to come.”
