We push those in power to address illegal and unconstitutional mass surveillance.

We are spearheading the fight against warrantless mass surveillance and against efforts to undermine encryption. We fight against the deployment of technology that the public did not consent to, including Stingrays, drones, and facial recognition. When the government calls on Congress for permission to invade our privacy, we say "no" — in unison with millions of grassroots activists.

How we've been fighting:

Special Projects

When the moment or issue demands it, we dive in on longer-term projects, leveraging our staff and resources to win big victories in the fight for transparency, equity and justice.

Fourth Amendment Advisory Committee

Demand Progress launched the Fourth Amendment Advisory Committee with a robust group of bipartisan allies to support the work of the Fourth Amendment Caucus. With this platform, we bring a diverse array of experts to speak directly with Congressional decision makers and the public about the Fourth Amendment.

Section215.org

Our hub for unique research and analysis of government surveillance, including what records the government collects on people in the United States under the PATRIOT Act, FISA generally, and other claimed authorities.

Media Relations

We work with reporters to break crucial stories, give expert commentary and ensure the role of grassroots activism is not ignored in the press.
