Trump Fetes Tech Ruling Class at Rose Garden

White House Gathering Follows Google’s Antitrust Wrist Slap, Massive Lobbying Push to Deregulate AI

Washington, D.C. — Against the backdrop of widespread Big Tech impunity like the toothless, token punishment that Google received in federal court over its illegal search monopoly, President Donald Trump will host Big Tech Execs today at the recently renovated White House Rose Garden. Guests include Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who both tried to nullify all state and local laws governing AI, as well as OpenAI President Greg Brockman, who is launching a super PAC network supporting candidates who oppose regulating AI (Meta is launching a similar super PAC in California). Also in attendance will be Google CEO Sundar Pichai and two dozen other tech executives. Demand Progress led a campaign opposing the AI moratorium and has repeatedly fought back against Big Tech’s government takeover.

The following is a statement from Demand Progress Policy Director Emily Peterson-Cassin:

“President Trump is rolling out the red carpet for Big Tech execs who are trying to block any law that may stop their AI from encouraging teens to commit suicide, creating nude images of child celebrities and flirting with minors. Honoring these self-serving, predatory executives in the first-ever event at the newly renovated Rose Garden is an obscene metaphor for who really runs this country. The White House is supposed to be the people’s house, not a happy hour venue for billionaires who want to prey on the people. If the administration’s top officials really cared about the people, they would stop these Big Tech execs from unleashing dangerously underdeveloped AI on us, stop Big Tech’s corporate crime spree and appeal the egregious Google monopoly ruling.”
