Washington, D.C. — On Tuesday, the House of Representatives voted to pass a continuing resolution that would enable a host of destructive and lawless cuts to federal agencies. Demand Progress has called on senators to oppose the resolution.
The following is a statement from Emily Peterson-Cassin, corporate power director at Demand Progress:
“Disguised as a business-as-usual government funding measure, the continuing resolution is actually a radical threat to everyday Americans that enables more lawless DOGE cuts. DOGE is already shutting down the government by unilaterally and unlawfully cutting programs, and even whole agencies, without any input from Congress. This continuing resolution contains no safeguards to protect agencies and programs that serve the public good from further damage. We call on Senators to oppose this reckless resolution and take a stand against a president who has handed the federal government over to his billionaire friends for them to play with and break like a toy.”
