Demand Progress Cheers Swearing In of Adelita Grijalva

570K Sign Epstein Petition, 8K Make Calls to Congress Demanding Release of Epstein Files

Washington, D.C. — On Wednesday, House Speaker Mike Johnson finally swore in Rep. Adelita Grijalva. Grijalva won a special election in Arizona seven weeks ago and is set up to be the 218th and final signature needed on a petition to force a House floor vote on Rep. Thomas Massie’s and Rep. Ro Khanna’s Epstein Files Transparency Act. Demand Progress has worked to debunk false attacks on the bill and is leading a campaign that so far has driven Americans to send around 570,000 messages and make more than 8,000 calls asking Congress to get the Epstein files fully released.

The following is a statement from Demand Progress Senior Policy Advisor Cavan Kharrazian:

“Every new revelation, every denial from the White House and every deflection from congressional leaders is a reason why we should just clear the air and release the Epstein files. The overwhelming response to our petition shows that this is an issue that resonates deeply with the American people. Jeffrey Epstein was a convicted sex trafficker of minors who had personal and business connections to presidents, prime ministers, royalty and even foreign governments. There is no good reason to keep the information that our government has about this under wraps, except naked self-interest. We urge all House members to do the right thing and vote for the Epstein Files Transparency Act.”
