The following statement can be attributed to Demand Progress Director of Communications Mark Stanley:
“Beginning Monday, the public will be without protections against ISPs blocking sites and services, creating internet slow lanes, and favoring their own content over that of competitors. In the wake of the FCC’s move to end net neutrality, we’ve witnessed giant ISPs cynically walk back pledges to adhere to open internet principles. With the FCC’s shameful abdication of its responsibility taking full effect, the open internet the public has come to depend on in recent decades is now in critical danger.”
“It’s vital members of Congress—Republican and Democrat alike—act quickly and sign the discharge petition to force a vote on the Congressional Review Act resolution to reverse the FCC and restore net neutrality. Each day representatives fail to sign the discharge petition is a day they are failing their constituents, by siding with the telecom industry over the interests of small business owners, rural residents who lack choice in internet provider, and everyone who depends on the open internet. The public is paying close attention, and Demand Progress will do its part to ensure every lawmaker who does not support the discharge petition for the CRA resolution comes under pressure for their anti-net neutrality stance.”
