“The bid from AT&T to take over Time Warner represents yet another in a series of proposed mergers among our country’s communications giants that would be disastrous for the public. This takeover would result in a dangerous concentration of economic and political power that could lead to higher costs, curtail consumer choice, and potentially constrain speech and information access.
“Since 2014, Demand Progress has facilitated more than 250,000 official comments to regulators and grassroots petition signatures opposing mergers like this, including the failed Comcast-Time Warner Cable merger. In the coming weeks, Demand Progress plans to harness the ever-growing national opposition to mega mergers to help defeat the toxic AT&T-Time Warner deal.”
