Washington, D.C. — Last week, Senate Republican leadership failed to advance a bill renewing Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), after facing resistance from a bipartisan coalition that is demanding greater privacy reforms like a warrant requirement. On a virtual briefing today, representatives from the ACLU, Brennan Center for Justice, Common Cause, Project on Government Oversight, Indivisible, Asian Americans Advancing Justice and Free Press Action will lay out the state of play on FISA as we head toward the June 12 deadline.
